How to sign a PDF

Worth knowing
- A contract never reaches a server. This matters more here than anywhere else on the site. The document and the signature are handled entirely inside your browser — a contract you sign here is not uploaded, stored or transmitted to anyone.
- The signature is drawn into the page. It becomes part of the document rather than an annotation layer, so it appears in every reader and survives printing and flattening.
- This is not a certificate signature. It is the digital equivalent of signing a printout — which is what almost every document actually needs. It is not a cryptographic signature backed by a certificate authority, so if you have been asked specifically for a digitally certified signature, this is not that.
- Upload a signature for a cleaner result. Signing with a trackpad rarely looks like your real signature. Signing a white sheet of paper, photographing it and uploading the picture usually looks far better.
