Business guides
How to price a job, what an invoice has to carry, when a quotation becomes an invoice, and how to get usable text out of a screenshot. Each guide is written against the tool it describes, with real numbers and a plain account of where the tool stops.
How these are written
Every claim about a BuzPulse tool is checked against what the tool actually does, and every guide says what the tool will not do as well as what it will. Worked examples are labelled as examples. Where a guide touches tax or law it says so and points at the authority that publishes the rule, because this is general information and not advice. They are written by Naeem Ahmed, who builds these tools. Corrections are welcome at nsglobal6@gmail.com.
Business documents
Invoices, quotations and the fields that decide whether either one gets paid.
What to put on an invoice: a field-by-field checklist
An invoice that is missing a field does not bounce — it sits in someone's accounts inbox until they get round to asking you about it. These are the fields, and the reasons each one is there.

Invoice vs quotation: which document, and when
Send the wrong one and you either ask for money you have not earned or give away work you never priced. The difference is about timing and obligation, not formatting.

Payment terms on an invoice: what to write, and what it commits you to
A payment term is the difference between an invoice that gets paid on a date and one that gets paid eventually. It is two lines of text, and most invoices get one of them wrong.

Business calculations
Margin, markup, tax, discounts and break-even — with the working shown.
Profit margin vs markup: the same sale, two different numbers
A 50% markup is a 33.33% margin. They describe one sale and they are never the same number, which is why pricing to the wrong one is the most expensive arithmetic mistake a small business makes.

How to calculate VAT — adding it, and taking it back out
Adding VAT is a multiplication. Taking it back out of a tax-inclusive price is not a subtraction — that is where most of the mistakes are, and where a cent goes missing from the invoice.

What a discount really costs: the number behind the percentage
Cut the price by 10% on a typical margin and you have given away 30% of the profit. You would then need to sell 43% more just to end up where you started.

Break-even: how many you must sell before you stop losing money
Break-even is not a sales target. It is the point where the month stops costing you money — and the number that tells you whether a price is viable before you commit to it.

Files and extraction
Pulling text and tables out of screenshots, scans, documents and spreadsheets.
Something missing?
More guides are being written, and which ones come next is decided partly by what people ask for. If there is a question these do not answer, say so on the contact page — or use the feedback box at the bottom of any guide.
