How do I merge PDF files?
Add the files, put them in the order you want, and merge. Page thumbnails let you see what you are combining rather than trusting file names.
How do I split a PDF or delete pages?
Pick pages from the thumbnail view to split out, extract, delete or reorder. You can also rotate individual pages or the whole document.
Can I convert a PDF to an image, or images to PDF?
Both. Convert PDF pages to JPG or PNG, and turn images back into a single PDF. Where a PDF has a text layer, you can pull the text out as well.
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. PDF Tools runs entirely in your browser — the files never leave your device. That matters for contracts, statements and anything else you would not email to a stranger.
Can I edit the text inside a PDF?
Yes. The Edit PDF tool changes text on the page and fills in form fields, then downloads the result. It works on the text layer a PDF already has — a scanned photograph of a page has no text to edit, only an image.
Can I sign a document without printing it?
Yes. Draw a signature with the mouse or trackpad, or upload an image of one, then place it where it belongs and download the signed file. Nothing is uploaded, so a contract never leaves your machine.
What is the largest file I can work with?
Around 200 MB, and less on an older phone. Everything runs in your browser using your own memory, so a very large scanned document may be slow or run out of room. Splitting it first usually solves it.
Can I password-protect a PDF here?
No, and deliberately so. The library available in the browser accepts a password and then silently ignores it — the file would open with no password at all. Handing you a file you believe is protected when it is not is worse than not offering it.
