PDF to JPG or PNG

Worth knowing

• The file never leaves your computer. Every one of these tools runs inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no copy on a server, nothing to delete afterwards and no queue of other people’s documents next to yours.
• JPG or PNG, and it matters. JPG is much smaller and right for pages that are mostly photographs. PNG is lossless, so text edges and line art stay sharp instead of picking up the soft halo JPG gives them.
• Resolution is a real choice. Screen resolution is fine for a slide or a web page. Go higher when the image will be printed or zoomed — the page is re-rendered at that size rather than scaled up afterwards, so the detail is genuinely there.
• The result is a picture. Text in the output is pixels, not characters: it cannot be searched, selected or edited. If you want the words, use PDF to text or PDF to Word instead.
